A new "centerpiece" for a special residential community

This was made possible by Klaus and Susi Reifenhäuser, who heard about the work of the association and immediately agreed to support the "cart" with a generous donation. It quickly became clear that this donation was to be used to purchase a new kitchen for the residential community in Troisdorf, as the previous one was already getting on in years and was in urgent need of renewal. So, together with the residents, the concept for the new kitchen was discussed and put into planning - with success. 

"Our new kitchen is the heart of the WG, a real communication and planning center where everyone likes to come together," says a delighted Monica Klosson, manager of the WG in Troisdorf-Sieglar, where ten people with intellectual disabilities live.

For Klaus and Susi Reifenhäuser, this was a real heartfelt project, as they recount during a joint on-site visit to the residential community. "We are therefore very pleased that the new kitchen has created a practical but also cozy place that invites the residents to get together," says Klaus Reifenhäuser.

A commitment that cannot be taken for granted even for the association, explains Gabriele Siebert, board member of "Der Karren". "We are very pleased that the Reifenhäuser family has supported our project. It is important to us that the residents of our facilities can lead as self-determined a life as possible, and in this respect the home environment is of course also of crucial importance," says Siebert.

In addition to care services for people with disabilities and outpatient care for seniors, the "Karren" maintains eight residential communities in the region. 62 adults with disabilities have found their home here.
