The Reifenhäuser Family Supports the Establishment of the Rhein-Sieg Midwifery Center

Social responsibility

Obstetric care in the Rhein-Sieg district is coming under increasing pressure: More and more delivery rooms are closing, and many midwives are giving up their out-of-hospital practice. The Rhein-Sieg Midwifery Center in Troisdorf has emerged as a much-needed alternative. The facility offers expectant mothers continuous care - before, during, and after childbirth.

The Reifenhäuser family has supported the Rhein-Sieg Midwifery Center in Troisdorf with a donation of 5,000 euros, thereby contributing to the completion of the facility.

Lisa Hoffstaedter, a fourth-generation member of the entrepreneurial family and herself a mother of two, knows the challenges firsthand: “The remaining hospitals today have to handle significantly more births. The Hebammenhaus takes some of the pressure off and enables holistic care—from prenatal classes through childbirth to postnatal care, as well as a wide range of courses.”

Claudia Schlich, a midwife and co-founder of the center, emphasizes the importance of this support: “We want to improve the healthcare situation in the Rhein-Sieg district in the long term. However, in the initial phase, we are dependent on financial assistance. The donation from the Reifenhäuser family went directly toward the renovation work.”

The Hebammenhaus is located in the historic rooms of the former St. Josef Hospital in Troisdorf, which were extensively renovated thanks to favorable terms as well as monetary and in-kind donations to the Förderverein Hebammenhaus Rhein-Sieg.

“I met Claudia Schlich during my own pregnancy and was immediately enthusiastic about this project,” adds Lisa Hoffstaedter. “Good midwifery care throughout pregnancy and childbirth is priceless—that’s why we’re very happy to support the Hebammenhaus.”

To mark the donation ceremony, Lisa Hoffstaedter toured the new facilities together with her two sons and her mother, Ute Reifenhäuser. Two birthing rooms, two event rooms, a breastfeeding café, as well as spacious restroom, utility, and kitchen areas provide ample space for mothers, children, and staff.

“The new midwifery center impresses with its excellent facilities and an atmosphere that radiates warmth and comfort,” adds Ute Reifenhäuser. “It’s a wonderful alternative to the often hectic hospital settings—and a valuable addition to the region’s healthcare services.”
